Is there a future Citizens for Midwifery
volunteer or Board member out there? The CfM Board is actively seeking
eager midwifery advocates who are interested in working with Board Members
on any of a number of tasks and projects!
The CfM Board realizes that
we need more people to be actively involved with the work of CfM for our
organization to continue growing and making an impact for birthing women and
midwives.
Do
you enjoy surfing the Internet? Or possibly writing or editing
written material? Perhaps you enjoy calling people up to get
information? We have volunteer opportunities that only take a
little time here and there, and some other opportunities that would
take a little more of a time commitment. Here are some immediate
needs:
- One or
more people to systematically check the CfM website to catch out-of-date
information and dead links, and then follow up to obtain new information and
current web site addresses.
- One or
more people to obtain up-to-date and accurate information for the State by State
pages on our website.
- Work
with CfM Board Members on the newsletter; this includes writing and/or editing state
news reports, thoughtful articles on birth- and midwifery-relevant topics, as
well as reviews of books, articles, useful resources, etc.
We will also
be looking for some additional people as we develop committees for membership
and regional representation.
We need your help to identify and get in
touch with people (“consumers” or others) who are willing to volunteer their time. Contact us by phone or e-mail to volunteer, to ask questions, or to let us know
of “hot prospects."
Your
involvement is essential to maintaining a strong consumer organization
and the future of midwifery! Talk to friends, family and others about
their birth choices and experience. You can both increase the
demand for midwifery care, and also be a “consumer voice” in political developments, letters to the editor, and many other ways. Join
with other advocates to make your voice heard!
Get involved with your state’s midwifery advocacy organization (if
you have one)! And get involved on the national level with
Citizens for Midwifery! Volunteers are what make this
organization so powerful!
