Non-nurse midwives are not regulated in Wyoming and have no statutory protection at this time.
Certified Nurse Midwives are licensed in the state of Wyoming as "independent practitioners" and are permitted to practice full scope midwifery without location restriction.
Licensure for CPMs to practice midwifery includes graduation from
a MEAC college.
Non-nurse midwives are not regulated in Wyoming, and since 2003 the practice of midwifery is considered part of the practice of medicine according to state statute.
As of May 2007, one midwife has been charged with manslaughter and practice of medicine without a license. A website is being prepared for more information
